Peace Draft Horse Club

Peace Draft Horse Club

The Peace Draft Horse Club is best known for hosting the annual Northern Spirit Light Show at Evergreen Park in Grande Prairie, but their activities go far beyond this signature event.

Calling Evergreen Park home, the Club organizes fun days, horse-powered farming demonstrations, shows, parades, and offers wagon rides for public and private events. They maintain a barn and facilities for their horses at the Park, along with storage for the Light Show displays. The Light Show itself was originally created by Evergreen Park and is now proudly produced by the Club.

The 2025 Northern Spirit Light Show runs from November 13 to December 7 (Thursday through Sunday) and then nightly from December 11–31 (closed December 25).

Founded in 1980 by local draft horse enthusiasts, the Club’s mission is to preserve the history and culture of draft horses while celebrating their vital contributions to settlement, farming, and ranching in the Peace Country. Membership is open to everyone including those without horses and draws members from across the region, united by a love of draft horses and community spirit.
